What Divançe is

Divançe is a web application that translates a sentence you write in modern Turkish into Ottoman Turkish in the style of five literary periods. The core idea is the contrast of an ordinary sentence meeting the grandeur of the old language.

Corpus

The couplets the app shows come from a corpus of 2,606 couplets by 36 poets.

The corpus holds only factual fields: the couplet text, the poet, the period and the theme. No definition sentence has been copied from dictionaries and none is given to the model; word explanations are generated on request and are not stored.

How it works

An artificial intelligence model produces the translation. The couplets are not written by the model; those close in meaning are searched for in the corpus and shown verbatim. A couplet without a source reference never appears on the result screen. If no close couplet is found, the app says so plainly.

Why there are daily credits

Every translation incurs a real generation cost. That is why free use comes with a daily credit limit: 3 credits a day without signing in, 10 when signed in. For details: Terms of Use
