What Divançe is
Divançe takes a sentence written in today's Turkish and renders it in the style of five Ottoman literary periods, alongside real couplets drawn from a classical poetry corpus. The result can be turned into a shareable image card. The app interface is in Turkish.
How it works
- Write a sentence in modern Turkish. It does not need to be long.
- Get it translated into five period styles: Classical Divan, Tulip Era, Tanzimat, Servet-i Fünûn and National Literature. Each result comes with real couplets close in meaning.
- Turn the result into an image card and download or share it.
The five periods
- Divan. Classical divan idiom: conventional imagery, quantitative meter, dense metaphor.
- Tulip Era. Graceful, worldly, cheerful phrasing.
- Tanzimat. Turning westward: plainer language carrying ideas.
- Servet-i Fünûn. Delicate, inward looking, painterly.
- National Literature. Close to plain Turkish, closer to everyday speech.
No invented couplets
Every couplet shown comes verbatim from a corpus of 2,606 couplets by 36 poets. Nothing without a source attribution is ever rendered, and when no close match exists the app says so.
The model writes the translation, not the couplets. Couplets are selected from the corpus and are never paraphrased or shortened. Word explanations are generated on request and are not stored; no dictionary definition is copied into the corpus or given to the model.
